ABOUT ME

Instructional Design

​

I'm a dedicated learning professional with a focus on instructional design and facilitation. Since early 2021 I've been in the role of Training and Quality Assurance Manager for Executive Flight Centre based in Calgary, Alberta. In the eight years previous to this, I worked as an in-house senior instructional designer for WestJet Airlines, leading the development of ground operations, ground icing, and cargo training.

 

I'm trained in instructional design and curriculum development, so I know how to apply adult learning principles and ID theory to a wide range of learning topics, employing an array of delivery modalities. My greatest ID strengths are creating and developing eLearning and instructor-led projects.

 

I have strong technical skills too! I'm proficient with Articulate Storyline, Adobe InDesign and Photoshop (and I dabble with Illustrator). I'm also pretty sharp with Microsoft Office suite and Articulate Rise.

Facilitation

As a facilitator, I know the value of being prepared, and I try to create an open, inclusive learning environment where participation and discussion are encouraged. I believe that a fun classroom is more engaging and conducive to learning, so when it's appropriate, I encourage jokes, games, and a light atmosphere.

I also have a lot of experience with leadership and management and I'm eager to share formal and informal coaching and mentorship with others.

 

I have a bias towards action and am passionate about delivering the right product on time and within budget.
